Can You Play is the site of Bankim Shah, writing from Mumbai. This page says what we collect, and why. We do not sell your information.
What we collect
If you join the letter, we store the email you give us, so we can send notes when there is something worth sending. If you write through Connect, we store your name, email, and message in order to reply.
If you create an account, we store what is needed to sign you in — including a session cookie — and what you use in the library (bookings, course progress, letters you have read).
We keep a first-party record of pages visited, so the writing can be improved. This uses a temporary session id in your browser. If Google Analytics is connected in Studio, page views, book clicks, and letter sign-ups are also sent to Google. Google may set its own cookies (_ga and similar). We do not run advertising pixels.
If you buy the ebook, Razorpay takes the payment. We do not see or store your card or UPI details. We store the email Razorpay sends with the payment so the library can open for that account. The ebook is not emailed and there is no file to download.
Cookies and similar
Sign-in uses a secure, HttpOnly cookie. The letter popup remembers a dismissed or joined state in local storage. Google Analytics, when connected, uses cookies to tell visits apart. None of this is sold as advertising.
Amazon, Razorpay, and fonts
“Get the book” takes you to Amazon. “Buy the ebook” takes you to Razorpay. Their privacy policies then apply. Type is loaded from Google Fonts.
Your choices
To be removed from the letter, or to ask what we hold, write through Connect.
